What Trainees Are Saying

Here are a few of the many positive comments we have heard from individuals who have used our sessions:

"The 'Choose Your Own Adventure' style of learning makes the sessions fun and engaging."

"It was was joy to spend time on this since it is so practical."

"GREAT session. You all hit a home run with this one!"

"This is exactly what I've been wanting to produce for my organization."

"The use of scripture in this training and the emphasis on prayer is superb."

"Many real life scenarios really grabbed the heart because I could see it and feel it happening to me. Could definitely relate to the situations."

"The content is top rate and it is presented in an attractive manner. It is at the same level of corporate eLearning that I receive at work."

"The handouts are immensely helpful. It is nice to be able to have these on-hand as different issues come up that I need to work through. The coaching videos did well to accentuate the different scenarios presented and gave clarity to the situations."

"I found this e-learning session very helpful and useable. The strengths of the session: the additional handouts, the biblical perspective, the coaching videos, and the overall scenarios."

"This session has been so helpful because of it is Biblically based and includes so much practical help on relationships cross culturally. I have learned much and want to promote the use of this course."

"This was a great teaching moment--this scenario is very helpful in showing just how much we need to interact and discuss with others of another race those issues we are puzzled by, to get a better understanding because we are willing to see it through lenses different from our own!"

"I think the principles identified on the document are very good and could really help groups experiencing this type of conflict."

"This has helped me understand more of how to process the potential and the conflicts that arise because of being unprepared. It emphasizes the time and the methods needed as well as the cultural issues that are needed to build this unity."

"This session did a great job of showing how Scripture and the community of believers can help one cope with the struggles with accomodating cultural prefrences. The tools created for the session were great as well."

"I really like this approach. It really makes me think."

"An excellent tool to helps navigate the cross cultural chasm. I certainly would not hesitate to refer this tool to anyone looking for 'dos and don'ts' of racial reconciliation. Wish it was available years ago."

"This e-learning program is a great tool for understanding the challenges and then giving steps toward building cross cultural relationships."

"The videos with Dr. Brenda were spectacular. I really liked her encouragement to keep at it. A learning and safe environment was created in the video to make mistakes....which is what we all do in intercultural situations. Learning from the mistakes of the main character in the session was also helpful."

"The coaching videos were very informative and encouraging. I felt the questions at the end of the sessions were great as well. Having the different scenarios was helpful, not only to see how it plays out for Jen when choosing the wrong scenario, but how in the wrong scenario, how that affects the person that the statement is being targeted to."

"This e-session was most helpful and I kept thinking throughout the session how much I wish this would have been available when our family began our journey of racial reconciliation! I could identify with many of the thoughts and feelings presented and I think it's wonderful to now have a resource available to help others on their exciting journey in their 'Samaria's'!"

"I am a missionary living in Romania. I think the sessions help me want to discover more where Romanians are coming from. We have different ways of functioning in our churches. The habitus insight will help me understand the international volunteers I work with."

"An engaging learning tool...it drew me in and gave me a number of helpful insights. Great job!"

"Thanks this was great! The content is very valuable, so practical and I have definately learnt some things and hope to build on this great foundation."

"I think the best part was that when I finished I wanted to go to a park and meet people!  So - the content is both informative and motivational.  Hits so many of the questions/thoughts that we have."

"I have experienced two of the three learning scenarios as a pastor, and see immediate application to what was covered in those sessions. In addition to this, I was ironically encouraged to learn that there are often no easy answers/paths to reconciliation and mutual partnership. Mistakes will be made, grace is required, and I have much to learn. This realization is actually empowering because I too often operate out of a fear of making an easy mistake."

"The way this material was presented was gracious in itself. I appreciate the spirit in which this information was given, the video clips were well-done, pertinent and "real-life" I especially liked the encouragement that we need to "learn the lessons that failing teaches" because often our efforts in this area, while well-intentioned, have not been inclusive -- I am reminded that the story of every Christ-follower's life is a story of grace."

"Having been involved in multiracial churches for 15+ years, I saw the value in this session as I saw many of the pitfalls that I have personally seen/experienced in different church settings as it relates to this topic of Inclusion. To have this tool now available, to be able to learn the Art of Inclusion is so invaluable in the church today!"

"This was great. Very relevant to our church congregation presently. Thanks for all the work involved in creating and supplying it."

"I found it very effective and helpful to be able to, right then and there, have access to a hand out to further guide me in what I had just learned by reading the conversation between these two gentlemen in the scenario. 1) It gives me a 'hands on' tool to use in my own exploration, 2) It made me feel more connected to what was happening in the scenario."

"As a minister in a culturally diverse area, I found the learning scenarios to be particularly relevant. We are wrestling with these very issues, and perhaps I appreciated knowing that the tensions our leadership team feels right now are quite normal given the nature of ministering to and reaching our neighborhoods."

"This helps me better understand these concepts of insiders and outsiders. I appreciated the inclusion of how to apply this concept on a practical level through things that do naturally come up in the culture of how we live our lives. I also appreciate the warmth Dr. Anderson is showing. Some people have really bad experiences with being coached on diversity (being labeled, having assumptions made about what is important to said person, etc.). Thank you for giving grace in recognizing that, even if some have questions or concerns, they might not be hostile to the idea; they just might need time to process, consider, and evaluate."

"I found myself initially dreading a training session that would take 2-3 hours, but I truly enjoyed it and found myself taking extra time to go through each of the clips and scenarios! Great training session!"

"I enjoyed going through the sessions immensely. Coming from a public high school background, the lessons I learned about diversity in high school were important but also not entirely accurate from a Christian perspective. Learning lessons about diversity that are based in faith and to be carried out in love and with the purpose of reconciliation were very interesting and helpful!"

"It expanded my view of how to handle situations with people of other cultures. I usually am good at understanding personality differences with people, but understanding how the culture effects this as well, and the magnamity of its effect on everyone is something I will carry with me for a long time. I also loved how you made choices for which answer to give. I was thoroughly surpised with one of them. I thought I had answered it correctly and then when I saw it's effects down the road I was surprised. So, well done. You give me a question and allow me to think it is right, show what benefits there are with it and yet show how it is still not the best option. Indirectly I saw how important council is when in leadership."

"I tend to think "color-blind"!! and that that will fix diversity issues, but it was interesting to see how people who aren't anglo-americans are proud of their culture and upbringing and that it is genuinely part of who they are. I learned that it is important to respect and acknowledge that, because when we think "color-blind" that's basically just turning them white and taking a lot away from them."

"I thought this was really great. I enjoy getting to pick how I thought it should go. What I really took from this was that even in a place where you don't feel like there is much opportunity to interact with a whole different culture, there usually is; you just have not looked for it."

"I have asked myself a lot of these same questions, but never found answers. Instead of just wondering what I should do in a situation, I can actually act with confidence and know of better ways to approach it."

"I thought the sessions were really nicely done. There were a lot of things that I thought would be appropriate to say that in reality my eyes were only fixed on myself. I think these really helped me to shift my paradigm on this type of situation."

"I feel like I'm more aware of how different cultures have different norms, and that what might be acceptable to one culture, isn't always acceptable to another."
