Many people do not realize that Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. worked very hard to extend a hand and work with Christians of other ethnicities. This letter to white clergymen who condemned his civil rights efforts is a good example of how he tried to reach out with grace and humility. His challenges in the letter remain powerful and applicable even to today. Click here to see the statement written by eight white Alabama clergymen that prompted the letter. You can find a wide variety of resources for teaching about this letter here.
