Praise for the Book
“Charles Foster claims that congregations can embrace the diversity in transforming ways. His analyses and exercises will sensitize congregations to the personal, cultural, and political dynamics in their interactions as they engage diversity. This will prepar leaders to explore the attractive possibilities that Foster outlines to nurture faith, build community, and promote an inclusive outreach—even in casual contacts and conversations. Finally, Foster shows how we build with integrity the momentum for embracing diversity by incorporating ordinary occurrences into the liturgical seasons and major events.” —Bishop Roy I. Sano
“Foster reveals the complex interpersonal dynamics and institutional realities of becoming a multicultural congregation. He identifies essential perspectives and practices necessary for empowering church leaders to form and sustain a multicultural fellowship. This essential reading should inspire laity, clergy, and denominational leaders who believe the church is a viable place of gathering for God’s diverse people.” —Luther E. Smith, Jr., Ph.D.
